A Simple Way to Set an Intention for the New Year

It’s a new year and a new decade! Can you believe it?

Do you struggle with all of the hubbub and pressure of resolutions and a “new you”? Only to fail by mid-February and forget by mid-year?

Both the winter solstice and the new year are wonderful reminders that we can start again and refocus our energies into something we desire. And intention setting can be very simple.

The last few years I’ve made my new year’s intention with one word and it’s been amazing how it’s manifested.

Two years ago, my word was PLEASURE, and I rang in the new year unexpectedly with a beautiful Brazilian man. He had asked me out for that evening, but I was already committed to another date. Then, when I got stood up and I thought I was going to be alone, the tides turned and I ended up having an amazing evening.

Last year, my word was LOVE. I didn’t know I was pregnant at the time I set my intention and on new year’s I even drew an oracle card from my favorite deck for love. Only 5 days later I found out I was pregnant…and now I have a beautiful, 3 1/2 month old baby girl who has shown me a love like no other.

As the new year approaches, I tune in to my heart through times of quiet contemplation and sometimes meditation. Usually a word would just come to me when I was quiet enough to listen.

Sometimes, I will consult my oracle deck, too, just to confirm. However, the more you learn to listen to your heart and be still, the easier this will be.

This year, my word is WEALTH. I desire plentiful resources in order to create a life where my daughter and I can have both the things we need, but also do things we want such as travel to Europe again one day, have a nice home with horses, and more.

And let’s be real, those things cost money. Plus, not to mention just all the things a child needs as they grow and one day…college tuition. Oh my!

So, what is your word for 2020? Please share in the comments below.
